Yup, things are definitely happening...

My contractions that started the evening of April 6, 2010 eventually disappeared and I didn't have anything show up again until about 1:30p-2pm on April 7, 2010. In fact, I was able to be out and about with a friend (we went to the mall) and I was having very mild contractions at the mall. However, it wasn't anything to terrible as I was able to continue walking and talking without discomfort. The contractions continued into the evening and were about 30-45 minutes apart. Chris and I went to bed around 10pm and set up the contraction counter on his Ipod Touch. I was awoken in the night multiple times with contractions about 20 minutes apart and they were intense at times. At about 3:30am, I had a few countractions about 9 minutes apart, but around 5am, they subsided to 30 min apart or longer. I was able to sleep, but was woken up with each contraction. I napped this morning and actually didn't have any contractions between 10a and 1pm today. I was able to get some chores done around the house including vacuuming our bedroom which I have been VERY fixated on doing the last few days. Well... needless to say, the vacuuming brought on the contractions. They got to be around 5 minutes apart for a while and around 5pm, I decided to lay down for a while to see if they would continue or subside. Chris made dinner, we ate, and we both showered. I had a few contractions in the shower and at this point, they were 4-7 minutes apart. It felt really good to lean against the wall and let the water fall on my lower back. Unfortunately, I had to get out cuz the water started to get cold. :( So, in the last hour or so... the contractions have gotten closer together averaging about 6 minutes apart and I've had a few that have been four minutes apart.

So, our bags are packed and in the car... I've been in constant contact with Lisa all day. This all seems a little surreal and doesn't seem real that we very well may be going to the hospital tonight. Due to the pattern of my contractions over the last two days, I'm expected these to just slow down and go back to 20 minutes apart. I'm trying to figure out various positions that help the contractions to be more manageable and learning what feels good and what doesn't. Sitting IS NOT comfortable. I'm dreading the long car ride to the hospital. At this point, the last 20 minutes or so, contractions have been 5 minutes or less... time will tell and I'll get this updated.

  1. Yay! Will be praying and thinking about you all night. Car rides while in labor are the worst! Maybe you could lay down in the back seat? You go, Momma! You're doing awesome so far!
