I'm going to post quickly before I head off to work while I'm thinking about it. :) I had my FOURTH ultrasound on Monday, March 15, 2010 downtown Chicago. It was kinda exciting to be in a super nice building on lake shore driving, but 19 bucks later for parking in the garage SUCKED!! :)
My placenta has fully moved and is no longer considered a previa and it isn't even low-lying. So, I'm all set for a vaginal delivery! This was certainly an answer to prayer! :) However, the ultasound tech asked during the ultrasound, "Are you losing any fluids?" Supposedly, my amniotic fluid is "low normal". It is common for the amniotic fluid to decrease toward the end of pregnancy as the baby gets bigger, but also normal to be a little lower if you are dehydrated. I was extremely dehydrated on Monday. Regardless, the OB is recommending ANOTHER ultrasound next week. I talked with our midwife yesterday and told her that I was not comfortable with another ultrasound and wanted to wait to discuss it at our next appointment on the 23rd. I would be more concerned if I had been extremely hydrated and my fluids were below normal. So, the midwife is going to do an external fluids check (basically they feel around and can identify if this fluid is low). The upsetting part, is that if I didn't need to have this fourth ultrasound, then this wouldn't even be an issue. This is the problem with having excessive ultrasounds is the professionals start diagnosing things that we would never know about without it. If I didn't have the ultrasound, there wouldn't be any concern about low fluid as it hasn't been an issue yet. So, we'll see, but I'm going to fight the 5th ultrasound!
