I apologize I haven't posted for a few weeks, I have been meaning to, but have been completely wrapped with work and school. I'm actually supposed to be working on my final paper which is due November 24, 2009 at 7pm, but decided to change the background of my blog and write a new post. For those of you who may be wondering, I discovered that one of the reasons the text couldn't be read in my blog and the background was all messed up is because the code for my background had changed on Hot Bliggity Blog. So, once I figured that out, I just decided to update it!
Chris and I went to our 20 week ultrasound on Thursday, November 19, 2009 and the ultrasound definitely disclosed we are having a boy. Chris is completely ecstatic and I feel like I'm grieving a little that we aren't have a girl. However, I'm really working to trust that this is in God's hands and he has a plan far greater than ANYTHING I could imagine. :)
Details from the ultrasound: Everything the ultrasound tech could see, looks good. Baby Bandstra is breech (vertical and feet down) and facing my spine. Surprisingly, the ultrasound techinician was able to get a pretty good look at the face and a few pictures. I will post some of them (Chris took pictures of the hard copies of our ultrasound pics). The tech was unable to get a good view of the heart. Baby Bandstra was moving like crazy and she would get a good view and then the baby would move. Also, we learned that I have placenta previa which means that the placenta is covering my cervix. Currently, this does not seem to be a big concern, but if my placenta doesn't move, I will not be able to deliver vaginally and will have to have an ultrasound. It sounds as though it is pretty normal and typical for the placenta to move as the uterus expands and grows. So, due to these two issues, I will have another ultrasound between 28-32 weeks. I requested that it be closer to 32 weeks so we can get a really good look at the heart.
A few new things: Last Saturday, November 14 I felt Baby Bandstra move for the first time. It has only continued which is great! It is a slightly weird feeling and for some you wondering, it feels like a muscle spasm/twitch that I can't control for just a few seconds. Unfortunately, the movement can't be felt externally QUITE yet, but hopefully soon. I am also beginning to have some pain in my pelvis when I get up from sitting or standing. I'm attributing this to my pelvis expanding and it certainly isn't uncomfortable, just weird. Also, the frequency in peeing has increased. I know have to get up twice in the night to pee (about midnight and then 4-5am). It's SUPER annoying!
